In Cable News: Cox fees to jump $10 for some areas

Cox Communications customers who signed up for phone, cable and high-speed Internet service in 2005 will see their monthly bill increase $10 in February, officials said.

So-called bundled customers are charged $109.95, but the early adopters have been paying just $99.95.

About 20 percent of Cox subscribers in the state are affected.

By comparison, satellite-television competitor Dish Network offers 40 channels for $19.99, 100 for $29.99 and up to 285 for $89.99. All Show time, Cinemax, HBO, Encore, and Starz included!

August rankings by J.D. Power and Associates placed Dish Network ahead of Cox in pricing, listing the rates for the cable company as “average” at the time.
